Joint Statement of German Student Unions

Solidarity with Students and all Protesting People in Iran

In light of the ongoing protests in Iran following the Islamic Republic’s morality police murder of Jina “Mahsa” Amini, 22, kurdish woman, for “improperly” wearing the hijab:
We, the General Students’ Committees of universities in Germany, acknowledge the freedom struggle of people in Iran against Khamenei’s Islamic totalitarianist Mullah-Regime, and stand in solidarity with you as you are fighting for your human rights, chanting “jin, jiyan, azadi” (“woman, life, freedom”).
We stand with the women, Kurdish, Baloch, the queer community and other ethnic and minority groups, who are braving death in the streets for more than two weeks.
As students representatives we want to express our solidarity especially with the numerous protesting students, opposing the authoritarian and patriarchal system in the universities and on the streets every day in different ways.
We mourn the already over 200¹ people murdered by the regime in the last two weeks.
